Principal Controls Engineer

As a Principal Controls Engineer, you will utilize your skills to specify, design, and validate function of complex control systems for heavy duty, off-highway vehicles.
These control systems can interface with nearly every system of the vehicle, providing the candidate with a global immersion in vehicle technology and abundant opportunities to invent solutions.
Developing electrical systems and controls Create control system electrical schematics Maintain electrical and controls specifications Develop electrical schematics and controls drawings Write advanced electrical controls programs Establish systems process control requirements Verify adherence to controls engineering design Create control system and electrical schematics Overseeing various electrical and controls engineering functions Develop controls systems for industrial use utilizing knowledge in control engineering Develop electrical and controls system architecture Implement electrical controls and automation systems for a manufacturing facility Extracted from process control systems Aid in the controls system design Sell advanced access control systems Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles Write code developing motion control logic and machine control logic Managing control system projects and supporting existing plant control systems Perform as a plant engineering department electrical, instrumentation, and control engineer Develop and upgrade electrYOUR IMPACT You will act as an interface between all disciplines of design / support engineering and software engineers to define required functionality of vehicle systems using Model Based Systems Engineering principles and approaches Understand desired vehicle functionality and subsequently transform the requests into functional software specifications Work with and direct software suppliers / engineers, communicating functional system requests via detailed documentation that follows functional operational guidelines across all products You will research, interrogate, and recommend new technology You will ensure design compliance to various regulations and standards across multiple regions and markets You will participate in validation / regression test of software You will utilize Controller Area Network (CAN) tools, proprietary programming tools, bench fixtures and Hardware In Loop to assure design intent You will interrogate source code when needed You will assist in planning and direction of relevant activities through all phases of innovation and development You will direct preparation of layouts, drawings, specification, and bills of material when necessary MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical / Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering or similar discipline.
5 years of applicable industry engineering experience STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS Strong, process-oriented discipline Working knowledge of Controller Area Networks (CAN) and related standards for vehicle communications, such as SAE J1939 Experience with off-highway or automotive vehicles Working knowledge of model-based engineering tools Multi-faceted knowledge of vehicle electronic, hydraulic, and powertrain systems Experience with control of electric vehicles Experience with Human-Machine Interfaces Working knowledge of programming languages Recommended Skills Control Systems Engineering Model Based Systems Engineering Plc Programmable Logic Controllers Sae J1939 Standard Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
