DIETICIAN - AOH NUTRITION

JOB TITLE/CLASSIFICATION: REGISTERED DIETITIAN
DEPARTMENT: FOOD & NUTRITION SERVICES
STATUS: PART-TIME
REPORTS TO: MANAGER, FOOD & NUTRITION SERVICES
POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision is responsible for providing optimal nutritional care to patients, which
compiles with the Joint Commission and the standards of care in the dietetic profession.
Responsible for the medical nutrition therapy of patient/residents; nutritional assessment, nutrition care plans, patient visitation, inpatient/outpatient diet counseling, diabetes and cardiac instruction, consults regarding advance nutrition support, as well as assist in other areas related to the Food and Nutrition Services Department. Available to provide nutrition education to the community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
+ Performs nutritional assessments and nutrition screens, which are appropriate and timely per established policies and procedure.
+ Develops nutrition care plans and monitors patient response to care plan developed.
+ Keeps thorough and updated information on kitchen cardex.
+ Provides diet consultations as ordered by physicians.
+ Collaborates with physician and nursing to deliver quality nutrition care.
+ Coordinates Diabetes Self-Management Education, instructs outpatients.
+ As requested participates in teaching for community education classes or participates in health fairs
+ Maintains adequate continuing education to perform duties and retain licensure and certification.
OTHER DUTIES
+ Visits patients with special dietary needs.
+ Creates outpatient nutrition scheduling
+ Provides scheduling and billing for patient nutritional services.
+ Provides needed in-services as assigned.
+ Answers telephone, emails and provide nutrition information as required.
+ Mentors students as needed.
+ In absence of Food Service Manager consults with Lead Cook in the department.
+ Perform other job related duties as assigned by Food Service Manager.
QUALIFICATIONS
License/Certification:
+ Registration with Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics required
+ Certified Diabetes Educator certification highly desirable
+ Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutrition/Dietetics required.
+ Approved internship/traineeship
Experience
+ Minimum six (6) months experience in acute care hospital
+ Minimum six (6) months experience in outpatient nutrition counseling.
Skills
+ Good organizational and interpersonal skills
+ Strong oral and written communication skills
+ Public speaking experience and skills
+ Employee must demonstrate basic computer skills
Physical Demands
+ Dietitian must be able to move around the facility between 1/3rd and 2/3rds of
the day, as well as sit at a workstation or in patient rooms.
+ Using hands occurs over 2/3rds of the day, while reaching with arms occurs less than 1/3 rd of the day.
+ Communicating is also required over 2/3rds of the day, while climbing, stooping or crawling is minimal.
+ Lifting up to 10 lbs. occurs about half the time, while up to and above 25 lbs. occurs only occasionally.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
