The primary purpose of the Licensed Practice Nurse ? to provide direct patient care, provide patient and family teaching, and work cooperatively within the interdisciplinary health care team in maintaining standards of nursing care under the direction of the registered nurse and within the framework of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act.
+ Assist Physician &/or Nurse Practitioner, with procedures and rooming of patients
+ Perform injections (Medications & Immunizations)
+ Perform phlebotomy (draw blood)
+ May collect specimens, perform basic laboratory tests/ CLIA waived tests and chart results
+ Provides patient education verbally and by providing written materials
+ May schedule tests or procedures ordered by provider
+ Call patients about test or procedures results; returns patients calls with answers after consulting with provider
+ Prepares exams rooms for procedures (PAP smears, excisions, etc. ), marks specimens for lab and pathology
+ Cleans exams room after each patient and stocks exam and procedure rooms with supplies
+ May be responsible for ordering office medications and medical supplies
+ May perform lab controls daily and check and record temperatures on lab refrigerators and freezers
+ Take incoming calls from patients and gives them medical advice according to predetermined nursing protocols. Nurse triage duties
+ Makes decisions about patients needing to be seen urgently, same day or next day
+ May be delegated callbacks from providers or other nurses
+ May pre- authorize, pre-certifies, or pre- notifies the test or procedure if required by the patient?s insurance company
+ May see walk-in patients and triage their condition
+ Provides patients with information about preparation for the test or procedure
+ Receives results back from labs and matches them to charts/EHR orders, as well asassist with Documents/Test results through the EHR following the process of triaging electronic scanned documents &/or test results
+ Provide team-based care. Working with other disciplines within the office for a team approach
+ Room patients according to departments rooming protocols
+ Have EMR, computer, & typing skills
+ Schedule patients for appointments / procedures/assist with prior-authorizations for tests
+ Phone triage
+ Assist with care coordination with the High Risk Care Coordinators & LPN Care Navigators
Job Requirements
+ Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
+ Current licensure to practice as a licensed practical nurse in the State of Ohio
+ BCLS certification
+ Demonstrate proficiency in basic nursing service, knowledge and skills
+ Demonstrate knowledge of evidence-base practice
+ Successful completion and passing score of a pharmacology course by OOPNE or NAPNES

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
